COVID-19 Precautions

Visiting A Dentist Amidst COVID 19; Safety Measures For Our Patients

Don’t Quarantine From A Perfect Smile, We Are Just A Few Miles Away!

Dentistry, along with the entire healthcare fraternity; has drastically changed due to the shock from Covid-19 pandemic. The dentists are at a high risk during any dental treatment due to the possible transmission of virus through aerosol. A dentist comes in close contact with the patient’s oral cavity, blood and saliva with almost 16 inches close. It is important to maintain safe distances, but at the same time distance is not possible during a treatment. Thus taking precautions such as wearing masks, face shield, gloves, head and eye gears to cover oneself is of crucial importance.

Safety Measures at Royal Dental Clinics for COVID-19

Look out for dentists who have advanced techniques to complete most dental procedures including consulting and final restorations; on the same day. This way you will limit your travel and touch points and also get your treatment sorted in a day rather than few weeks. Following procedures if adapted in every dental clinic in this present Covid-19 pandemic scenario, may help to keep safe:-

  1. Use PPE kits for the dentists and dental assistants is being continued along with masks, protective eyewear, head cap and surgical latex double gloves.
  2. Telephonic confirmation is a must for the patient to be appointed as proper planning of one patient per room protocol is managed by the team accordingly.
  3. At the reception desk of the dental office, the patient entering is given a hand sanitiser for sanitisation. Every patient entering should strictly wear a mask without which there is no entry. A digital thermometer is being used for immediate thermal screening and a record of the temperature is being maintained.
  4. A declaration is filled by the patient to write his or her travel history, history of contact with a person suffering from cold, cough, fever, history of quarantine and details of vaccination.
  5. Thorough sterilisation of dental equipments and instruments for best hygiene and safe practising was a protocol at Royal Dental Clinics since 1983. The same is being adhered to with more vigilance checks.
  6. Educating the dental staff to follow strict sterilisation protocols, precise handling of dental instruments and appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment kits is been carried out in team meetings.

Walk-in patients without any prior dental appointments are only entertained with no signs and symptoms of fever, cold, cough, body pain, breathlessness. Such patients are mostly being treated under dental emergencies. That being said as dentists and dental practitioners we are trained to handle such circumstances and hence dentistry is safe.
